new aquarium hood is to small

i got a new hood, and it is just slightly smaller than the opening, any ideas what i can do, i was thinking of a Plexiglas liner about an inch or so wide around the edge cut to fit on the inner lip, any input would be appreciated

What about the plastic trim for the back pieces between the glass and which fills the gap between the glass and bac of tank where the hang on back filter is you can trim it to the edge. Or the piece that you can buy to replace the hinge of the glass top?

Maybe a old school lfs would have some old pieces of tanks in back, or what ours calls the "bone yard".
