I've just recently tried at a planted tank. My tank is low tech so my plants grow very slow so I don't have to do any extra work.

yeah i may give it a try at some point the low tech that is.. just full time grad student right now so money and time is very limited.. yeah looks like it's not leaking terribly now.. you may try boiling agin for 6-8 hrs changing the water about every 15-20 min the more water changes on the boiling water the better.. (it increases the concentration gradient for the the tannins to leak out and can almost double the amount of tannins that leach) and see if that doesn't help speed up the process
 
I see what you mean. I'm slowly planting my tank because money is tight and I have 4 other tanks running. I'm in high school.
