New fish

I recently bought some neon tetras to put in my tank and was wondering what other community fish go well with them as I am hoping to have more than just three tetras any help would be great thanks

Well if its just the 3 tetras in it I would say add 3 more so they can school, other than that you have a ton of options in a 40 gallon! I would do some cruising around on the site and look for some you like, then come back here and we can help you with a stocking list that'll work for your tank size.

With a 40 gallon and only 3 neon tetras you have a lot of options for compatible fish. Are you looking for larger fish or similar size? How experienced are you? What type of bottom is the tank?(sand gravel....).

Without any other info I suggest

A pearl gourami
4-5 Cory cats (if you have sand)
3-4 Dwarf rainbow
Ghost shrimp


Once you answer I have a lot more

Ok so here is what I would do, but you need to do stock with what you like:

1 pearl gourami
5 more neon tetras
1 Bolivian ram
10-15 ghost or red cherry shrimp

After 4-5 months running 3-4 oto cats

This also gives you room if something else catches your eye
