PetSmart Lizard Catfish

Trying to figure out what this is, found it ahem 'fishy' that it's a petsmart exclusive 'mystery' fish.

Well, since it is sold for only $8.54 it can't be too much of a mystery and probably not rare.

I'm curious as to what it actually is though, and I know a lot of places label something as special or mystery when it's just something else

It looks similar and one of its common names is lizard catfish

That's why I hate trade names... You're going to have a rough time finding anything on it.

Yeah :/ they piss me of, to me it should be illegal to sell an animal if you can't identify what it even is.

It's a bit hard to tell from the photo, but it looks to be a Homaloptera species (lizard loach). There's more information on this group of fishes here: http://www.loaches.com/species-index/species-index

I was at my LFS today and saw "lizard catfish" written on one of the tanks and it wasn't written on it a couple weeks ago. I couldn't find anything that looked either lizard-y or catfish-y though. I assumed they were sold out.

Weird that I ran across this post the same day though. Maybe they are a new(ish) import.
