Hi all

I just picked up a Marineland Tidepool overflow/skimmer. I was looking into getting there sump also. It has pull out media trays and a bios wheel. Would this be a wise choice for a 30 Gal reef setup? Would the bio wheel become a nitrite trap? The only thing I dont like is there isnt a refuge with that sump. The overflow works great ( finally got rid of my gravity feed tube ( I know it was dangerous ) Thanks

No leeky leeky is a good thing.

Personally I wouldn't waste the money on the tidepool sumps. You could get a rubbermaid container the same size or bigger for under 10 bucks and basically have the same thing. Yes the drawers are nice, but anything you put in them will likely only contribute to rising nitrate levels and the biowheel isn't useful either you would want to remove that and probably replace it with liverock. Also the Tidepools are not that well constructed for the price...they tend to warp over time.

I would avoid it.
