I removed three artificial plants and put them in a tank that's currently cycling. I did that 2 days ago and I just tested the water in my established 29g and I got high readings!
Ammo: 0
Nitrite: 2.0 maybe a tad bit higher.
Nitrate: 30ppm or so.
I just did a 50-60% pwc. Those numbers above are what they are now. They only lowered slightly. I've added too much Prime before, but that wasn't an issue. I recently bought and started using Sera Brine Shrimp cubes. About 4 days ago I did a 20% weekly pwc and had both of my black mystery snails die. Today I found a dead ghost shrimp being eaten by another. It got sucked into the inlet tube and died.
How likely is it that one of these events is the cause? I've never had a dead fish cause nitrite spikes. Hmm. Any thoughts?
