Hi all, I am a relatively experienced aquarium keeper, but this is my first foray into biotope aquariums. I have chosen an Amazon biotope. I have a good deal of driftwood in place and the water levels are as they should be . . . I have decided not to have gravel or sand and I have found a lot of information saying that plants are essential and I have also found a good deal saying they are not essential. Any insights?

I plan to put some floating plants in but have not done enough research yet regarding best choices for my aquarium. If anyone has suggestions I would appreciate them.

Finally, I have used java moss in the past to brighten up driftwood. Can anyone suggest a similar plant from the Amazon if one exists at all?
Thanks

Matt
