Oceanic trickle filter model 150 plus

I have a 90 gallon drilled tank. I have it set up as freshwater. It has a corner overflow. My daughter has a oceanic trickle filter model 150 plus that she doesn't need. It is set up for two overflows. I was wanting to find out if i can use it on my 90 gallon. Will it work if i block off one of the valves? Also is it to much for my tank. It was on a 125 gallon.
