I'm not great at I.D.s but I think that it is a kribensis. They are a realativaley peaceful community chiclid that will do well in a community setting and inhabit the bottom of the tank. Anyone else agree?
I have a kiribensis and she(?) has so much more color and hangs out on the bottom of the tank. This one just kinda hangs in the middle, and top of the tank.
Looks like a positive ID! Thanks! Now that you all have mentioned the name, I was able to find other images of this fish under that title. I guess I need to find a male now. Do the females ever get those beautiful reds and blues?
No, females will keep a similar pattern. Males will develop the bright colors. Yours looks young, and the males don't develop color until they're a little bit older...both sexes are born and grow up looking the same until males start to show
