Orange shoulder tang

Got a large orange shoulder tang about two weeks ago. The fish hides quite a bit in my 440 gallon tank. It hasn't eaten anything other than algae in my tank and hides when I feed my other fish. How long can the fish live without eating and does anyone have any ideas of what to do to get the fish out to eat.

How's the tang doing I just got one today and he's skittish just wondering if it start to get comfortable I think mine will eat he did eat at the lfs

The fish is finally starting to feeling at home after 3 weeks. The fish is an adult fish, only eats algae off the back of my aquarium and picks at the sand as if he is eating. The fish hides when I feed my other fish so the fish has eaten no meaty food such as mysis but seems fine. It took three weeks for the fish to swim around casually and no fish were picking on him.

I got a juvenile and he's doing fine he started swimming around at noon today and eat with everyone else around 10pm might be the difference the adult and juvenile I just can't wait for it to grow up

Mine is out and about. He's not eating regular food but he poops like a champ so he's eating something. I think I'm going to get a spot face tang for my aquarium. I also have a large yellow belly hippo tang and two yellow tangs. S got a 440 gallon tank. .
