Definitely check it with your own test kit. I'm not sure how you could have 4 ppms of ammonia in a new, empty tank?
Also be careful of the brand ammonia you use. Make sure it does NOT list surfectants, dyes or perfumes as the ingredients. The ACE Brand Janitorial from ACE Hardware is best.
