well i made my new light for my 80 Gal tank
nice polished aluminum reflector, IceCap 660 ballast,
and 4 96Watt strait pin PC bulbs

fired her up and OMG what a world of difference only question is are these
PC bulbs supposed to get SO Hot?mean WOW lol

thanks

96W bulbs yes will be to hot to touch very soon after firing. Watch the water temp if you dont have fans blowing air over the bulbs. Also be aware that replacement cycle for these bulbs can be as short as 9 months. I am speaking from experence on this.

Ok well right now its just sitting ontop of the tank i want to build a hood for it but is it going to be to hot for the wood?
