Hi all. I've just recently set up a new tropical freshwater aquarium. The size of the tank is 24" x 24" x 24" deep. Lighting is by 2 18 watt freshwater pl tubes and 2 Arcadia led strips just for effect. Filtration is by external filter.

The substrate is made up of jbl substrate and gravel over the top.

I feed regularly with liquid fertilizer. No co2.

Plants consist of valli's cyptocornes, hygrophilia and Amazon swords. Many of the plants are dying with lots of leaves turning brown, particularly the valli's and swords. Any advice gratefully accepted.

That's a tall tank, lighting is probably your issue, do you administer root tabs?

What lighting would you suggest? No root table just a liquid fertilizer when I do a water change.

You need root tabs as swords, crypts and vals are heavy root feeders.. that may be your main issue.
