Hello all --

It's been a while since I was on here. I'm trying to find a plant that my family and friends had about 50 - 60 years ago. It was a low growing plant around 4" tall that we used to refer to as "crypts", but it doesn't fit any Cryptocoryne species that I can find. It was a fast grower that propagated by runners like crazy. It had relatively narrow leaves about 3 - 4" long that were deep green on top and maroon on the underside. Whenever someone set up a new tank, we would give them some of our extra plants as a start. We passed them around for a good 30 years. Does anyone have any idea what plant species it might be? Thanks.

The only plant I can think of that matches that color and size description is Cryptocoryne wendtii ‘red’. Though it spreads via runners it is not a fast growing plant.
