Quite a while back, my company built a plywood tank/vat for our saltwater invertebrate section. It was basically plywood, stainless steel nails and braces and fiberglass. It had a glass window. The only thing I will tell you is that we needed to wash the tank down with acetone after we had tested it because the inverts died in the unwashed tank. This was done simply by wetting down a cloth with acetone and wiping the entire tank down. No real problems after doing that.
Just something to consider.
