pool filter sand or 3M black quartz sand????

i used playsand from home depot...$5 will go a long way

i used pool filter sand it was 10 dollars for 50 lbs

For rooting plants pool filter sand is recommended more than playsand since the grain size is larger and doesn't compact as much. I paid about $4 for my 50lb bag of play sand. I only have a few swords, which are doing well with root tabs, and java moss.
