Looking at two 800 gph wave makers for mr 55 gallon are they a good brand

I've never heard of them. They look cheap sorry to say. I would avoid them as the suction cups can loose suction and i doubt they have replacement parts Just my opinion. I would get some hydor koralia pumps. They are more expensive but I like them alot. I have some in my 90. They use magnets instead of suction cups to attach to the tank. There are other good brands, but like I said I use these.
