No. The description says for 5-20 gal tanks.
You are going to be a little limited as to what air pumps you can use for that 40 because it's so tall. You need to research air pumps for deep tanks and you are looking for 18" deep or deeper in the descriptions.

This brand of pump has a questionable lifespan. If I was getting a new pump, I'd get this: Whisper Air Pump 60 Up to 60 Gallons because it's a vibrator pump and repair kits are available for when the diaphragms wear out ( and they will wear out over time.) . This pump is made for deep water tanks. The other pumps I've used for deep tanks are Luft style ones but they are expensive or smaller linear pumps which are piston style pumps which can handle deep water but are a little noisier than vibrating style pumps.
If you get this pump, you will also need to use a gang valve to help let out any excess air pressure which will increase the lifespan of the diaphragms and pump.
