Question about using Texas Holey rock in my tank.

Often I see the holey rock and cichlid used in the same sentence. I know cichlids prefer harder water . I also know my barbs could handle a harder water as well. Thing is my Barb tank is set n I like it how it is. wondering what other fish people have successfully kept with holey rock,any insight is welcome. I can get a whole mess of it for 20$ thinking of grabbing it regardless but I'm curious.

I use it in both my cichlid tank, and my barb tank. The barb tank has both green tigers and rosey's, along with some bosemani rainbows. The rock works great for buffering the water, it it also provides great hiding spots for fry.
