Can I shut my bubblewands off overnight and just leave the filter running? I want to make sure that this would be safe for the fish.

Really depends. You may not even need them. If you're filter is providing enough surface agitation, you dont even need bubble wands/air stones at all. I have none because my filters agitate the water enough. If your filter is not agitating the water enough, you could run in to problems. Give it a try. If the fish start gasping for air, you'll know its not a good idea. If not, you can.
