Return fish?

A couple weeks ago I decided to get a rainbow shark...not the best idea. I had read that they were territorial, but I just couldn't resist and now he's chasing my platys constantly.
Anyways, I was wondering if I could return him to Petco, even without the receipt? It doesn't bother me if I don't get the money back, I just want the shark to have a better home, and for my platys to be happy

I know the Petco i deal with locally doesn't take livestock back w/out a receipt. I don't know if this is their company's rule or if it varies store to store.

My local Petco doesn't bother me about receipts for anything, but everyone at that store knows me. Your mileage may vary, can't hurt to ask.
