Salt and Trace Elements in Freshwater tank?

I believe my platy fish may not be getting the nutrients they need solely from food and am considering adding a little salt and some Seachems Trace Elements for Freshwater Fish to my tank. I have plants, a nerite snail and fry in my tank. Will they be harmed by the salt and Trace Elements? Does anyone have any experience with this?

I have mostly strip tanks, water, filter and fish. I add both to all tanks but use only 1/8th or less the recommended dosage of trace minerals. It also adds a ton of calcium to the water for inverts.
