I bought this first snail at my LFS and was told it was a Turbo snail. Well the snail in the second pic was bought at an NLFS and was told the same thing. The first snail has a flat foot as seen in the pic and has a black head. Well the snail in the second pic has a line down it's foot and it's head is the same color as it's body. Is there a difference? And if so which is which? http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o154/throwedtoad/S7303466.jpg

thanks guys but the nerite seems to be FW. Can the adapt to SW? It seems to be doing great in my 29 gal SW tank.

There are nerite snails that live in fw, brackish and sw. It should do fine in your tank.

I'm going to go with that they're both turbos. Do a google image search for pictures of "zebra turbo" snails. I think you'll find that's what that first one is. I've got a couple with the black/white coloring (under all the coralline!) and they're definitely not nerites. Nerites seem to have a more defined black/white pattern.

After a second look at the first snail, I think Kurt is right. I didn't notice before but the shell isn't as smooth as a nerite would be. Either way, both are great additions. Thanks for the correction Kurt!
