Can you use kids play sand as substrate? I have gravel at moment but wanted to section a third off and put a sand base in that third for my loaches. Thanks

Yes you can use play sand, just make sure you clean it real good.

Yes its cheap and excellent substrate. I use playsand mixed with pea gravel. You can get 50lb bags from walmart for like $2.99. Just wash wash wash until its pretty much clear.
