Seachem Purigen. OK for a planted tank???

Anybody used/uses Seachem Purigen in the filters of their planted tanks? Would it remove too much nitrogenous compounds that the plants need?

From my understanding, purigen reduces nitrates by eliminating precursors - so, if you dose KN03, the purigen shouldn't take it out. Many people have used purigen in planted tanks with success.
 
I don't have a planted tank, but I agree that it's great stuff!
