Seeding while i wait, will this work?

ok so while my 3d background for my 30 gallon dries and cures ( another week - 2 weeks)

i decided to set up my 20 gallon, throw in my gravel and ornaments and put three 30 gallon filters on the back.

my plan is to get the cycle going in this tank and get bacteria growing on everything..... then when my 30 gallon is ready ill transfer all the ornaments and 2 of the filters over.

will this speed up my cycle in my 30 gallon?

I don't see how it couldn't speed up your cycle period on the 30 gallon...

If the 20g was established, yes, it would speed up your cycle. I suppose cycling for two weeks in one tank, then transferring everything to another cycling tank might help. I'd be worried about killing off the small bacteria populations while transferring everything.

thanks for the advice. after i transfer everything ill still allow time for it to cycle

Good call. It'll most likely still take several weeks to finish the cycle.

i cycled my brothers 15 gallon in a week with 2 neon tetras

I would suggest just running the new filter off your established for a bit and then put it on the new tank along with your seeded decor
