shot gun wading as biomedia

Hi everyone,
I recently read on the Internet that you could use shot gun wadding in your wet/dry towers as bio media. I was wondering what other people thought of this claim. For those that don't know shot gun wading is a plastic piece that has three flaps and some holes in it....hard to explain.

ive heard you can use practice plastic golf balls for bio balls. duno about shotgun wadding tho.

Anything non-toxic that has a lot of surface area, holes and crevacies, should work great.

I would think that unless you happen to have some shotgun waddings laying around somewhere that it would be alot cheaper to just use bioballs JMO

How much do bioballs cost? Im not too sure how much either coscts, but I know you could go to a gun store and buy a whole bag full of wads....I can't imagine that they would be that expensive, but then again, I could be wrong!

A box of bioballs big enough to fill a standard crate only costs $15-20. Plus they are designed for surface area, it is amazing how much each has.

My LFS sells bioballs for $0.10/ea. On ebay I see good deals on them all the time.
