Shrimp update

He's still alive and kicking. I suppose the pictus might not have killed my other one.

I went shopping for a friend for him this weekend. Petco had a full tank of them, but they were all dead. There was a green one still alive, but needless to say, I didn't buy him. Would you consider him a bamboo shrimp???

well, he's three inches long. He was brown when I bought him. Now I want a green one. I was so worried about that pictus. He doesn't even look at him twice.

Yup, that's a bamboo if it has the stripe down it's back.

Sorry, I should have looked more carefully before I posted. I didn't notice the stripes, just the red color. My bad.

Is the green one about as large as the others? I think it could be a different shrimp.

He looks pretty good. What's he been eating? I've been thinking of getting one but I've heard they can be a little difficult to keep alive since they are filter feeders.

I've been testing him out a bit. Flake food mainly. He sits in a plant and catches it. He went nuts when I threw some peas in there the other day. He was filtering some of that in when the barbs tore it apart.

I think he travels alll night eating off the bottom.
