For three days i have been doing 50 to 70% water changes and have raised the temp to 85 and added aquarium salt and declor. My loaches did have white spots that did not look like granuals of salt Re: ick. Since then the white spots have disappeared but now their rear fins appear to be wearing away severly. They are not eating and hide either near the top or under driftwood. My other fish, a silver dollar, 4 tetras, 1 gourami and 1 para pleco are fine. My reading to day are, ammo 0, ph 7.8, nitrites 0 and nitraes 0. I have a fx5 filter on the 56gal. Should i continue to do the large water changes? Please advise.

Fin rot is being caused by a secondary bacteria infection, keep up with daily water changes for up to two weeks to monitor the tails for improvement. The high heat and salt method must be used for 10 days after the last parasite is seen to ensure its gone for good.
