Is it ok for a fish to shed slimecoat? I just noticed our 6 inch long common pleco shedding a small thing of slime coat. my 6 inch striped raphael is always shedding it. Just askin, thanks

Are you sure they don't have ich? I've never seen a fish "shed" before. It may be possible but I've nveer seen it happen.
 
Do you have pictures of this shedding? I have had fish with a fungus seem to be shedding something slimy. Mabey you should look a little closer at your fish and determine if it is a disease.
 
A thicker slime coat means that there are more electrolites on the fish. this means that they can effectively fight bad bacteria and disease better. A fish cannot shed this slime coat, it would be the equivelent of you sheding the first layer of your skin as it protects them :)
