My snails shell has a crack in it. What happens if the shell comes off? Will it repair itself? Is it life threatening?

Not sure what causes it. I've noticed in my mystery snails when they get bigger. It might be some nutrition deficiency or just them growing. I'll do some research.

There shell can erode in soft water. Add some cuttlefish bone into your filter or under your substrate.

It shouldnt be that expensive! You can find some cheap stuff at the petstore for turtles that should be fine..

But all I do is leave small chunks of the vacation feeder blocks in my tank. That is built up mostly of calcium and other vitamins/minerals... My snail has grown very well on it and does not have a single crack in its shell.
