Start afresh after columnaris?

Hi all,

I recently battled with columnaris for the last 2 months and lost the battle on the last of my fancy guppy lines this week but still have a plecostomus who seems to have either resisted catching columnaris or has remained healthy due to treatment. I am in no rush to restock my tank yet, but am not sure if I should drain and scrub clean my 20 gal tank then start fresh with a recycle and if so, what do I do with my Pleco while doing this?
