Hi there!
I have a 10 gal tank that I am going to do a fishless cycle on and then stock with a small community. I just used the tank to cycle a pump for another tank. The water and substrate are still in there and there is some algae on the glass. Should I start from scratch and clean it all out or would it be beneficial to just pop the new HOB filter that I bought get started?

Get some seed material from the cycled tank and put it in the HOB and go for it. As long as there were no problems with the water or tank before you should be ok.

Thanks for replying! That's what I was thinking and I ended up starting it this morning. I figured I'm better off using the water and substrate that's already been thru a cycle.
