Hi all! So I use those Whisper 1-3 gallon filters which is a carbon filter. I just did the monthly change since the flow wasn't going as well. I've rinsed it with water and it was time to toss it. So this morning I changed the filter. It's bed time and I walked by my little fish tank and noticed a stink. Would anyone know if this is normal or not? Or if you've experienced the same? It didn't smell before I changed the filter.

Btw, I would hate for my cycle to restart since I changed the filter but I have gravel so wouldn't the good bacteria still be in the tank?

Thanks,
Jess

The bacteria resides in the filter. I personally would not use carbon, just floss or sponge and rinse and reuse.
Good luck!

+1 to rinsing filter's. Remember to rinse your media in used tank water to save your bacteria or you could go through a mini cycle.
