Styrofoam

Just posting So others will not do what I did.
I needed to empty my tanks and place in something while our floors were being installed. I chose styrofoam. Bad choice. Styrofoam absorbs water and can leak! I found this out the hard way! Saved the fish but will never use styrofoam to put water in.

That is good to know! The density is probably the issue.

Density does play a role, so does pressure and heat. If you have a nice thick Styrofoam container on your heated or apply pressure depending on the variables it will leak eventually

All depends on density, those styro boxes they ship meat and live fish in will hold water. The cheap ones you get at the supermarket may hold water but the slightest imperfection in the supporting sub-surface will fracture the bottom, add the side stress of water and it's a gamble, they're soft foam. There are all different grades/densities of foam these days. They make very expensive coolers out of foam and an epoxy shell that you can stand on.
