I'm trying to figure out how the prior owner plumbed the 240g tank I purchased. Unfortunately, he had disassembled everything prior to me getting there, so I did not get to see exactly how it was done. Almost looks like he had 1" on the return and 1.5 and 1.25 on the drains. The strange thing (at least to me having never dealt with this before) is that the bulkheads coming into and out of each overflow area are 1". I don't get the idea of going 1" to 1.5, down to 1.25 and then back down into a 1" into the sump.

If I go just go with 1" for the returns and 1.25" for the drains down into the sump, should that work? Its a Rio 26 HF (1590 GPH) return pump.

Also...he used spa flew hose. Is that okay to salvage or is it better to go with normal PVC?

Any feedback is appreciated. I'm hoping to get everything all together tomorrow. If like to do it once and get it right the first time.
