Hello, new to the forum. ESL.
I have 4 swordtails, 1 male and 3 females. I originally had only one female but died from stress because of harassment from the male, after I got 3 females (one orange and two yellow) to balance it out. Male is orange and all are about 2"
Current issue: my male only harasses one female (both orange) and he doesn't care for the other 2 females, even one of them developed a "sword". My orange female is EXTREMELY stressed I'm worried about her dying, he chases her all day and finds her eveytime (there are plants, driftwood and hiding places). What should I do? should I get more orange swordtails? my LFS said it didn't matter the color, but clearly it does.
Tank info:
26gal
Planted
NO2 0 (API)
NO3 < 20ppm (sera strip)
pH 5.5 (pH meter and PRODAC liquid test)
Temp 78ºF (analog and digital termometer)
Stock:
9 neon tetra
7 corydoras sp
4 swordtails (1M:3F)
2 German blue ram (1M:1F)
3 Zebra danio
I'm aware that its "kinda" overstocked, tank was a rescue.
