I got 5 petricolas a year ago and they were approx. An inch in size. They have only grown maybe an inch and a half. Is this normal, i read they are slow growers. That is really slow though at least i think so.
 
Slow growth is very normal with all catfish especially the Synodontis. Most studies with the Petricola have shown growth at about an inch every six to eight months. I wouldn't be concerned with the growth rate unless they are housed in a tank that could be preventing them from reaching their full potential.
 
They are in a 180 gal so i think they have lots of room to grow.
