My tank (56gal tall) setup consist of community fishes with live plants. I have a T5 Quad light fixture with built-in-timer. For freshwater, do you have the lights on 24hrs/day? Currently, I am playing with the timer and have it setup to where the 10k bulbs are on 14 hours and the actinic bulbs for the remaining hours (after hours). The light fixture has 1 master switch.

How long do you leave your lights on?

lights should be on at max 10 hours, I use a 8 hour photo period on my 75 gallon planted tank. leaving the lights on the long will only promote algae growth and no one likes algae.
