i've seen so many planted tank that are so clear and beautiful with oxygen on the surface. My media filters everything else... but my 50 gallon tank are filled with debris flowing around, they look like tiny oxygen bubbles but they don't disappear! I have a canister filter with a intake tube on one side, is that the problem? is the problem adding another filter on the other end? :( frustrated

test the water.
What about using Acuclear. Its available at Petco.
It works really good.
And if the particles are too small that your filter isnt picking them up use a denser sponge.

denser sponge.... hmm that must be it. My water parameters are fine.
pH 6.6
kH 2 degree.
nitrate 10 ppm
phophate at 1ppm

i flushed out the intake tube and it was full of sludgy trash. Do they turn into nitrate and harm the tank?

They can after a while. when i clean my intake tube i use a bottle brush of somesort to get in there becuase that stuff sticks really good. and when the tube has anything in there it wont filter as well as it should.
