I started to keep a log, starting 11/2 ammonia 4.0 no nitrites,11/3 ammonia 2.0 no nitrites 11/4 ammonia 2.0 no nitrites 11/5 ammonia 1.0 no nitrites i dosed to bring the level back to 4.0 maybe 5.0 11/6 ammonia 2.0 no nitrites yet is this normal? my ph is a steady 7.0 I'm doing doing a fishless cycle, with ammonia what you think ????

Hi! yes if you started the cycle on 11/2 I'd say you're doing well with ammonia already starting to drop (typically it can take 2-3 weeks for that to happen!). Nitrites will show eventually, just be patient, it can be 2-3 weeks before they show up but with ammonia dropping this quickly you may see them sooner. Keep an eye on your PH though; cycling can cause PH to drop suddenly and if your PH goes any lower than what it is now you'd need to do a water change to restore it (the bacteria don't like very low PH). Good luck!
