Yes, when you add the active filter, you will need to add some source of ammonia. Either dose a low dose of amm (2ppm) to start & we can work up from there or add some fish that you plan on stocking (a few to start). Dont worry about the biofilm right now- your tank is cycling. If its on the glass & its annoying, you can wipe the glass off without signifigantly affecting anything.
