Aquarium Advice Addict
I'm trying to plan how I want to restock my 75 gallon planted community, and I really like the idea of trying German Blue Rams for the first time... I've been researching them, but I wanted to get some advice from folks who actually keep them.
1) I've heard they can be shy... Is this better mitigated by keeping them in a group, or by keeping a pair with some dither fish? I'm leaning toward a pair with either a bachelor group of guppies or a school of cardinal tetras for dithers and upper water column color/movement.
2) Would they be okay with the rest of my planned stock?
- 6 gourami (2 pearls, 2 blues, 2 opalines, all females)
- 1 king betta male
- 8-10 Dwarf Chain Loaches
- 1 Red Tail Black Shark
- 3 otos
- 2 African Dwarf Frogs
- possibly aforementioned dither fish
(other than the Rams, all of the other fish are expansions of existing stock and/or were ones I used to have that coexisted peacefully before a columnaris outbreak wiped out half my tank)
Tank usually stays around 6.5 pH and 78-80 temp, nitrates never go above 15. Layout is densely planted with lots of logs/caves/driftwood, as well as a few areas of floating plants.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
