This website can take advantage of javascript to pull time zone information off your local computer to display time/date stamps here on AA. This helps people whom dont fully understand UDT time and how to set it appropratly for your specific area. There is some very helpful text on the profile page to help explain a few of the options but I will try to give a quick overview here.

There are three automatic modes and then the old manual mode. Under the automatic modes you can either use your computers time/date settings, or use the servers time but adjust it based on the timezone settings on your local PC. This later option is what we have as the default method of displaying time here at AA. What this does it take the time that the server has on its internal clock and adjust it either forward or back based on the time zone that is set on your PC. The final automatic mode is to use the server time and timezone settings. Use this if you really dont care what the time/date stamp on messages are.

In the manual mode you specify what timezone your are located. IE for east coast it would be UDT -4 and you would specify that there is a 60min DST difference. You can also specify if your locality observes DST or not.
