Time to switch the cartridges

Okay, so my filter cartridges on the Emperor 400 are starting to get old. They look okay, but when I fire the filter back up there is some stuff flying around in the water that wasn't there before.

I have the empty cartridges that came with it.

Any suggestions what to put in it? I remember someone saying before that the charcoal cartridges aren't necessary.

Just take them to a high pressure water source like a outside water hose and give them a good rinse. I use my charcoal cartridge as a "chunk" collector by placing it in front of the filter cartridge. Works for me.

I use these in my Emeror 400. Then, in the plastic cartrige, I have some of them filled with Ceramic Cylinders, and others with lava granules. I hae 2 Emperor 400's and 1 Emperor 280. These filter cartriges work very well on both.

Whats great about them besides the price is they come with a reuseable sponge filter. Thats all I use in the cartridge. Works great for me.

Have you cleaned the plastic tubing? It could have buildup which is releasing when water pressure is started.

Actually no. The holidays has me putting it off. I'm also worried I will break it.
