Anyone other than aaron know if sand is recommended/not recommended with a goldfish community?

I think it could work better than gravel. Goldfish, in this case, may ingest the gravel and it may not come out. As for sand, if it's fine enough, it may pass with minimal, if any problems.

Hey aaronjohn20,
where did you get the sand? Ive been trying to find a cheap alternative to the expensive black sand in pet stores.

Thanks Tetra...

It's funny you provide this input, as I have read just the opposite regarding goldfish and sand; that's why I was asking...

Black diamond sandblasting sand is an alternative. 7$ for a 50 pound bag

That's the sand I used from my local tractor supply company (TSC). It was $7.99 for a 50lbs bag
