Top off water

Would you consider the top off water that you add through the week as part of your weekly PWC's?

No because you're not replacing anything except for the water that evaporated. All the salts and nutrients are still in your tank.

Just a thought because I have been adding about 2 gallons every other day

you have an open top i assume? what size tank?

As mentioned, it does not count as PWC. That is a lot of evaporation, you have a large tank/sump?

Yes open top 90 gallon tank with a 29 gallon sump

Wow thats alot of top off. I guess I add about 1/2 gallon every day.

i have a hood for now only temp till i get my actual lights then its a reptile screeb type thing its like a mmetal grid covering im to afraid of lights fallin in for a open top

That amount of evaporation isn't abnormal, my old 65 had close to that much and I had a canopy.

I keep it around 78-80 degrees with 2 250 watt halides and both of my wavemakers run on the surface all day

I loose bout 2 gallons a day too but I'm running 2 400 watt 20000 k metals my tank is open 135 gallon and an open 55 gallon fuge and my tank never goes over 81with lights on and drops to 77 at night

mine usually stays in that temp range I very rarely ever plug my heater in
