A few questions:

Do ALL soft corals give off/contain toxins?
What about LPS?

Lastly, do SPS contain/give off toxins?

Thanks.

Ive never given it the time of day to really understand but from the little i have read about it and in my experience the problem exists with soft corals. But only when mixed, for example softies and sps. This is where i notice lots of warfare. Proper distance and placement can help but it will still take place.

Mixed reefs are hard for this reason. All the different species compete. Most people go softies, softies/lps, lps, or lps/sps if they want to avoid any problems.

I have run 2 mixed reefs and currently run 29g mixed softies/lps/sps and the warfare is rampant. Im always running carbon and have to be careful where i place things. Certain corals ive had no luck with placement anywhere in the tank. Slow Growth rates in certain corals can also become a problem.
