Turning off Pump for Remora Cup cleaning

Do you guys turned off the Maxijet when you empty your Remora collection cup for cleaning? I always turned off when I took my cup off. However, I thought this might lower the lifespan of my Maxijet by turning on/off frequently.

no wont hurt it !! most use maxi jets on wave makers which i have been told they are the best for holding up to such abuse

I just pickup the cup and dump or clean it and then plop it back on. no stopping for me.
