What types of salt water aquarium sand is there? I picked up a bucket from someone else's aquarium that they recently shut down, and he wasn't sure what type of sand it was. He said it wasn't crushed coral. Some sands I've seen are fairly light. This sand looks more like what you'd find in a playground sandbox, with some pebbles in there to boot. It's darker than most sands I've seen, I wonder if this is due to it being cycled / out of the water but still wet? Any way to identify if this is okay for a FOWLR aquarium?

I'd really suggest just tossing it. If not, you've got to clean it really really well. Why start off your system with dirty sand esp if it has been out of a functioning system. Who knows what type of die-off is in there.

I bought Caribsea aragonite reef sand a lot of people use it and DR fosters and Smith has the best deal shipped to your door for cheap
